چکیده

recently, the most important topic in water management was to determine the effects of urban forests and green space on partitioning gross rainfall (gr) into the rainfall interception (i), stemflow (sf), and throughfall (tf). the main aim of this research was to quantify the seasonal variations [growing season (gs), and non-growing season (ngs)]) in i by individual fraxinus rotundifolia trees in the chitgar forest park located in a semiarid climate zone of iran. from the september 2012 to september 2013, gr and tf were collected through 6 and 12 rain-gauges, respectively. i was calculated as the difference between gr and tf. fifty rainfall events were recorded and the cumulative gr was measured 156.0 mm. over the study period, gs, and ngs, i ranged 19.4%, 23.0%, and 16.2%, respectively. significant positive correlations were observed between i and gr over study period (r= 0.862), gs (r= 0.862), and ngs (r= 0.950) (p

seasonal variability of rainfall interception and canopy storage capacity measured under individual oak (quercus brantii) trees in western iran

while the hydrological balance of forest ecosystems has often been studied, quantitative studies on the seasonal variability of rainfall interception (i) and canopy storage capacity (s) by individual trees are less frequently reported. hence, the effects of the seasonal variation in i and s by individual persian oak trees (quercus brantii var. persica) in the zagros forests of iran were studied...

Lead and Cadmium Concentrations in Throughfall of Pinus eldarica

This research was carried out in order to quantify throughfall (TF) and interception loss (I) and to compare the chemical composition of TF, i.e. lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) as well as electrical conductivity (EC) and pH beneath Pinus eldarica and Cupressus arizonica plantations and the open field rainfall. The research was accomplished in the Chitgar Forest Park, a semi-arid polluted urban area...

Rainfall Interception by Sacramento's Urban Forest

A one-dimensional mass and energy balance model was developed to simulate rainfall interception in Sacramento County, California. The model describes tree interception processes: gross precipitation, leaf drip, stem flow, and evaporation. Kriging was used to extend existing meteorological point data over the region. Regional land use/ land cover and tree canopy cover were parameterized with dat...

The dynamics of rainfall interception by a seasonal temperate rainforest

Net canopy interception (Inet) during rainfall in an old-growth Douglas-fir–western hemlock ecosystem was 22.8 and 25.0% of the gross rainfall (PG) for 1999 and 2000, respectively. The average direct throughfall proportion (p) and canopy storage capacity (S) derived from high-temporal resolution throughfall measurements were 0.36 and 3.3 mm, respectively. Derived values of S were very sensitive...

Seasonal variability in faecal bacteria of semiarid rivers in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Humans and livestock are known contributors of faecal waste to surface water. However, little is known about natural fluctuations of faecal bacteria, especially where wildlife may contribute substantial amounts of waste. I tested the hypotheses that ecological factors, including seasonal animal impacts, rainfall and physiochemical water quality, influence the abundance of total coliform (TC) an...
